Aldi Ireland have an excellent range of white wines on offer. Each Christmas they put together a selection of wines from across their portfolio. I’ve picked three Aldi whites from a recent tasting and have an overview of them below.
Chablis
There were a couple of Chardonnays featured in the tasting. You would be surprised at the amount of people who don’t know that Chablis is actually made from Chardonnay. First up we have the Andre Vannier Chablis priced at €12.99. A dry white with green fruit notes and an underlying minerality.
The second André Vannier is a Premier Cru. Keeping the same Chablis characteristics as above (fruit, minerality) but a hint more citrus/ripeness to the fruit and a subtle smokiness. Well priced at €19.99.
Riesling
The exquisite collection Clare Valley Riesling from Australia is a steal at €9.99. A dry medium bodied with high acidity and beautifully pronounced citrus notes of lime and lemon. There is also a notable mineral quality and freshness to it.
