Storks – Movie Review

Written by: Nicholas Stoller (Yes Man, Zoolander 2) and Doug Sweetland (animator on Toy Story, Find Nemo). Voices: Junior (Andy Samberg), Tulip (Katie Crown), Pigeon Toady (Stephen Kramer Glickman), Hunter (Kelsey Grammer) and Nate (Anton Starkman)

It’s fun and original and God bless all the parents out there when the kids start asking for little brothers and sisters.

Out of the baby delivery business and into the more lucrative market of  package delivery Stork is a fun, clever and original animation that will no doubt entertain the masses. It tells the story of Tulip, a baby the Storks failed to deliver and Nate a little boy who longs for a brother or sister. Continue reading

Brunch by the water at Charlotte Quay

There is something about the area around Grand Canal that I really love. Every time I head to see something in the Bord Gáis Theatre I always say to myself, I must come down here more often.  My pal Sharyn was having a hens night in town and as I’m part of the bridal party (yes we are very progressive these days) I was tasked with finding a brunch spot for myself, herself and her chief bridesmaid Nicola on a Sunday morning. We were staying in the Marker Hotel (fabulous) the night before so of course  Charlotte Quay popped into my head.   Continue reading

The Japanese inspired fantasy adventure Kubo and The Two Strings is the latest feature from LAIKA, the stop-motion animation studio which brought us Coraline and The Boxtrolls. It’s an original and inspired story of Kubo (Art Parkinson – Game of Thrones) a young boy with one eye who lives in relative seclusion with his protective mother Sariatu (Charlize Theron).   Continue reading
