Domaine de Millet Rosé – A Rosé Review

*I’m no wine critic but I am a wine enthusiast*

Lately I’ve been dipping my toe (or tongue) in the world of rosé wines.  You might recall I reviewed a splendid Horgelus Rosé recently and while on a trip to Paris I also tried out a few different rosé wines.  Given that my adventures in rosé have all been so positive it seemed sensible to continue the trend. Suicide Squad – Movie Review

There is a lot packed in with little time for heavy impact but that doesn’t mean its all bad’

Suicide Squad was one of the most anticipated movies of the year so its release was always going to be watched with scrutiny.  Film critics were chomping at the bit for 5 p.m. August 2nd to arrive. Why? well there was an embargo on reviews until then. Many view embargo’s as a studio being worried their blockbuster won’t live up to the hype around it. Perhaps however its more a clever ploy to whip everyone into a frenzy just before release date. Whatever the case may be there was a flood of mixed reviews circulating the internet at 5.01 p.m.Suicide Squad Continue reading

The BFG – Movie Review

Directed by Steven Spielberg with a screenplay by Melissa Mathison (E.T.) which is adapted from the much loved book by Roald Dahl, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is a magical trip down childhood memory lane.

It’s hard to imagine any adult that has made it through childhood without at least knowing the bones of this story. Sophie is an orphan with a case of insomnia and wanders the halls of her orphanage late at night.  It’s on one of her nightly vigils that she spots our larger than life friend The BFG.  Continue reading

Domaine Horgelus Rosé – A Rosé Review

Recently I had a bit of Twitter chat about Rosé wines with the very talented Gaby Guedez One particular reference she made grabbed my imagination and I thought it a wonderful way to describe a pale Rosé. It was a fitting prompt for me to delve into my own narrative about a Rosé I enjoyed recently. Continue reading

Henriot – A Champagne Review

*Not a bit of sponsorship, advertising or persuasion from anyone to write this. Simply exploring the world of drinks one glass at a time and sharing what I find. The bottle of Champagne was a gift, the thoughts are my own*

Not too long ago I wrote about a wonderful dining experience in The Coburg Brasserie which was not long open. Since then it has garnered more than a few positive reviews which I’m delighted to see.  On my visit we were treated to their house Champagne which is Henriot Brut Souverain. Continue reading

City Spectacular – Entertaining Dublin Once Again

This weekend sees Merrion Square turn into a jam-,packed fun-filled adventure for the entire family as City Spectacular takes over the town to entertain the masses.  Its running Friday, Saturday and Sunday with incredible performers, music, food and of course more than enough distractions to keep the kids happy.  There are over 300 shows, workshops and activities happening. I popped in for a very quick look around as they were getting set up but of course I’ll be back.  Here’s a quick snapshot of what to expect. Continue reading

The Legend of Tarzan – Movie Review

‘Its based on a much-loved tale but alas it doesn’t quite hit the mark’

David Yates directed four of the Harry Potter movies as well as the forthcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. He takes a break from the world of wizardry and delves into the forests to directs Alexander Skarsgård (Tarzan) in The Legend of Tarazan. Continue reading

Muscadet – A Review of Jo Landron’s Wine

Produced in the Loire Valley close to Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region Muscadet is well-respected and of course consumed by the French. It may not have such a high-profile in Ireland (yet) as we continue to pick bottles of the more well-known whites such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chablis and Pinot Grigio off the shelves (I do it myself). Wines Direct are now stocking a fabulous Muscadet in Ireland and I was lucky enough to enjoy a glass with a small group of wine enthusiasts at a wine and food pairing lunch. Continue reading
