5Rock Skerries

I will be living in Skerries ten years this Summer.  Throughout that time I have seen new restaurants opening and old favourites closing their doors.  Skerries is a stunning seaside town with a vibrant harbour.  Along that harbour is the welcome addition of 5Rock, a Mexican inspired smoke house grill. Movie Review: Fate of the Furious

The Fate of the Furious or Fast 8 or The Fast and the Furious 8 or whatever you want to call it has hit cinemas in Ireland with a bang.  Expectations for this one are high.  Not surprising since Furious 7 made about a billion at the box office.  Yes a billion.  It was also the last we got to see of Paul Walker who passed away.  I know I wasn’t the only one who shed a little tear at the end of Furious 7 when everyone wore white (like a Backstreet Boys video) and See You Again played. Café Society at Number 22

Café Society at Number 22

When I think of dinner theatre I think of little round tables with lamps, clinking glasses and live performers entertaining diners. Café Society at Number 22, is exactly that. It’s a dinner theatre space that turns into an after hours circus complete with DJ.  Continue reading

The Restaurant

(FLASHBACK) The Restaurant -The Night I Was (Drunk) On The TV

Since The Restaurant TV show is back on screens Thursday March 23rd, sure I thought I would re-post this little piece about my experience last year.

Back in August 2015, myself and the lovely Caitriona from Wholesome Ireland had the pleasure of filming an episode of Aldi The Restaurant. It was an absolute funfest from start to finish.  Naturally we had to keep quiet on who our celebrity chef was, but of course everyone now knows it was Pippa O’Connor. Continue reading

Muscadet from Lidl - French Wine Sale.

Muscadet From Lidl – French Wine Sale

The Lidl French wine sale kicks off in stores on March 20th.  In advance of the sale I’ve picked two to try.  I’ve purposely steered away from the traditional white wines such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and opted for something a little less mainstream in the form of a Riesling and Muscadet from Lidl. You can find my thoughts on the Riesling here. Continue reading

El Golfo

(Travel) El Golfo Lanzarote

Lanzarote is probably best known for being a cheap holiday destination with almost guaranteed sunshine all year round.  There is however a whole lot more to the island.  In terms of size it comes in at just over 325 square miles.  With little effort you can certainly drive around it in a day.  You are however likely to miss some of the spectacular scenery the island has to offer. One such place is the small village of El Golfo.  Its located towards the south of the island close to the Timanfaya National Park (more next week on that. I’ve a few short photo led posts, like this one, about the sights in Lanzarote coming up). Continue reading

Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair

Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair 2017

Back again for another year in Dublins Convention Centre the Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair kicks off Thursday 23rd of February at 5p.m.  The event is a firm favourite every year with beer enthusiasts eager to try out new brews.  Many of the brewers on site produce beers especially for the occasion.  The folks over at  Dan Kelly’s Cider have their Single Variety No. 1 Cider bottled and ready to go.  The fair is not just for those in search of the latest brew. You will also find plenty of food, pool tables and of course music throughout the weekend. Continue reading
