Just off Westland Row on Fenian Street you will find a cracking little pub called The Gingerman. It attracts a mixed bunch with plenty of after work drinkers enjoying a pint as well as many a tourist from three large hotels on its door step.
Working just across the road from it, I’ve been going to The Gingerman for years at this stage. The staff are great fun, the food is fairly decent with a good range on offer including salads, pies, fish and chips and quite a tasty curry.
The pub is split into a couple of areas. The main bar to the right as you come in, which is usually where I can be found. Towards the back of that is seating for food and drinks and a small snug area. To the left of the door is access to the upstairs and another food and drinks seating area. I’ve never actually had a drink upstairs come to think of it.
The bar has some interesting little details in it such as the quotes on the stained glass around the main entrance. If you are a fan of all things Santa’s Grotto, I strongly suggest you visit around Christmas and not grin from ear to ear looking at the North Pole explosion that takes over the pub, its magical.
As mentioned the food is fairly decent and I’m quite a fan of the beef and Guinness pie with mash. It goes perfectly with a pint. I suspect The Gingerman will be a pub I continue to frequent for the foreseeable future and I encourage others to give it a try too!
