This weekend sees Merrion Square turn into a jam-,packed fun-filled adventure for the entire family as City Spectacular takes over the town to entertain the masses. Its running Friday, Saturday and Sunday with incredible performers, music, food and of course more than enough distractions to keep the kids happy. There are over 300 shows, workshops and activities happening. I popped in for a very quick look around as they were getting set up but of course I’ll be back. Here’s a quick snapshot of what to expect. Continue reading

Muscadet – A Review of Jo Landron’s Wine
Produced in the Loire Valley close to Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region Muscadet is well-respected and of course consumed by the French. It may not have such a high-profile in Ireland (yet) as we continue to pick bottles of the more well-known whites such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chablis and Pinot Grigio off the shelves (I do it myself). Wines Direct are now stocking a fabulous Muscadet in Ireland and I was lucky enough to enjoy a glass with a small group of wine enthusiasts at a wine and food pairing lunch. Continue reading

Wild Foods & Foraging Masterclass at Brooklodge
**my stay was covered at my own expense (and well worth it) but my place on the master class was complimentary**

I’ll tell you more about my stay in a follow-up post but first let me tell you why I was visiting. Continue reading

The Perfect BBQ – Asian Inspired Pork Skewers
As soon as the sun comes out every balcony and garden across the country has a cloud of smoke coming off it. The likes of Argos and Woodies are rammed with eager BBQ buyers picking up their ‘use it once a year’ BBQ. The thing is you just can’t beat BBQ food in good weather and the fact that we are barbecuing in Ireland makes us feel all sorts of exotic. Instead of rolling out the usual burgers and chicken fillets I decided to give my pork steaks a hint of eastern flavor for a delicious and simple BBQ crowd pleaser. Continue reading
