Gentleman’s Tea in The Morrison Hotel has been on my list for what seems like an age. When my wonderful friend Ruby Laine gave me a birthday gift of a voucher for the Morrison Hotel it was simply meant to be. I booked myself in on what happened to be Good Friday. Usually it comes served with a pint of Wicklow Wolf but given the day that was in it they were alas not able to serve me but did kindly knock €5 off the cost instead. Continue reading

Eye In The Sky – Movie Review
‘It prompts you to think about the moral and ethical questions of modern warfare’
In 2014 Ethan Hawke starred in a movie called Good Kill which was about a drone pilot and the personal struggles he faced as a result of his job. It was a fairly average film and Ethan Hawke as Major Thomas Egan missed the mark slightly on really questioning his role as a drone pilot. Continue reading
Crivit Pro – Affordable Running Range From Lidl
I’ve been running for about two years now. I started to get fit and lose the belly. A task which is ongoing and never-ending, so thankfully I like running. One of the great things about running is the fact that it is essentially a free sport. You don’t need to join a club or buy lots of really expensive equipment or even be part of a gym. It’s simply a case of throw on some trainers, open the front door and off you go. Continue reading
Marcels on Merrion Row – A Marvellous Meal
*I was a guest for dinner, usual disclaimers apply i.e. feeding me doesn’t mean a good review, that you earn all by yourself*
Marcels used to sit on St. Marys’s Road in Ballsbridge. It’s reincarnation in the more central location of Merrion Row has made it all the more accessible to many. It’s a restaurant, bistro and bar all in one. I found myself sitting there on a Thursday evening in March. Continue reading
The Huntsman, Winters War – Movie Review
Overall I think the movie will keep the younger generation entertained but don’t go in expecting too much.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War is the prequel to Snow White and The Huntsman’s which hit our screens in 2012. The film gives us the background to Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and how he became a huntsman, as well as his relationship with Sara (Jessica Chastain) who is also a trained huntsman (woman) and becomes his wife. It also tell us the story of sisters Ravenna and Freya. Continue reading
Box Burger Bray – BEEFTASTSIC
*I visited Box Burger in Bray as part of a Zomato food led experience. The review following is an honest and true reflection of my visit.*
Burgers. Who doesn’t love a burger. I know I love them. They go with lunch, they go with dinner and they most certainly go with 3a.m. after one or two (too many) pints. On a more sober note however, I had the pleasure of joining the Zomato crew for a trip to Box Burger in Bray. Continue reading
The 1592 Restaurant – Dinner in Trinity College Dublin
The 1592 is probably a restaurant that many of you have never heard of. It’s not surprising either. It’s located in Trinity College Dublin and is not open to the general public. I’ve been working in Trinity College for ten years and it has always been on my list of places to have lunch. Continue reading
