Pub Love: Kehoes

One of my all time favourite pubs in Dublin City centre is on South Anne Street. Kehoes was first licensed in 1803, which makes it one hell of long-standing watering hole.  For me its charm is in its complete lack of modernity.  You won’t find sleek counter tops, gastro this and gastro that, or a hostess with a clipboard in this bar. Flavours of Ireland Pop Up At Berlin Cafe

Looks like there’s a new ‘Pop Up’ coming to town inspired by Flavours of Ireland.  A group called Centime Markett (yes two T’s) are behind it. Food duo Etienne Pittion and Mark Kelly are hosting a selection of food speciality evenings across Dublin city.  They will be in various location and have varying menus but all will be focussed on local Irish produce.

Interestingly enough both Etienne and Mark both have musical backgrounds which have now led them to a love of food, which they are happy to share with you. They promise a night of quality Irish foods including a selection of Irish meats and cheese

East(ern) Delights At The Spencer Hotel

Like many people I’ve a bit of a love hate relationship with hotel restaurants. Often categorised as just a convenient option with little or no expectation of culinary wonder.  With a new breed of funky, drink and dine destination hotels popping up around Dublin the view of the hotel restaurant has been revitalised.  They cater to more than just staying guests now. The hotel restaurant and bar is now a go to place for drinks, dinner and good music, often with a live DJ catering to the clientele. Minions – Movie Review

I’ve never seen Despicable Me 1 or 2 so I was happy to see Minions can be viewed as a standalone movie. The movie starts by filling in their back story and we meet the characters Kevin, Bob and Stuart, who lead the Minions on their quest to find a new leader. They  are fiercely entertaining and never before have single-celled yellow organisms been so 3 Dimensional. Mr. Holmes – Movie Review

Forget everything you think you know about Sherlock Holmes. Forget Baker Street, forget the deerstalker hat, forget the pipe and forget the action packed sleuth brought to a new generation by Guy Ritchie.  Director Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters) gives you a Sherlock Holmes that is fragile, short-tempered and losing his intellectual prowess.  Based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin, aging and looking back are very much the prominent themes in Mr. Holmes.
