The smoothie has long been praised for being a quick and easy way to get fresh fruit and/or vegetables into our diets. To be fair making a smoothie takes little or no skill and the right combination can taste incredibly good.
Since we are now at least one heatwave into summer I’ve given my fruit smoothie a twist by adding a little vodka to it. The great thing about this simple recipe is you can substitute both the vodka and the fruit for your own favourites to create a never ending list of combinations. Be warned though, this kind of smoothie might just leave you less on the smooth side and more on the rough side the morning after.
Ingredients: (makes 2)
90ml of vodka (reliable Smirnoff was used)
250ml pineapple juice
60g plain yogurt
1 banana peeled and diced
100g ice cubes
2 tablespoons of caster sugar
Honey
Method:
It’s ridiculously easy.
- Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend.
- The honey is optional, you can decide to drizzle a little on top before drinking.
