Wagamama Japanese restaurant and noodle bar on South King Street has recently had a revamp and relaunch and its only marvellous. I popped in for lunch recently and they have a fantastic selection at only €9.95 for a main course. So here’s how it went.
I had the chicken ramen which came in less of a bowl and more of a bucket it was so big. To match its size it came with a wooden ladle instead of a spoon. A large chicken breast, fresh noodles, tasty broth and spring onions and seasonal greens. The broth was packed full of flavour and the chicken tender and succulent.
The other main was yaki soba, teppan-fried soba noodles with chicken, shrimps, egg, beansprouts, peppers, white and spring onions. garnished with fried shallots, pickled ginger, sesame seeds and coriander vinegar. It was equally as tasty as the ramen and also a great size serving.
To finish we shared a lemon and berry cheesecake. Rich and creamy with a crisp base and a gorgeous zing from the lemon and berry. I’d go back for that alone. I’ve also had the pleasure of trying out some of the cocktails on offer on a different visit. Priced at €10 they pack a kick and are simply divine. Wagamama is fast becoming a firm favourite of mine.
