Darkness into Light – Running in Aid of Suicide

Darkness into Light began in 2009 so is now in its sixth year.  The first run had about 400 participants in Dublin. Last year that number grew to about 80,000 across Ireland.

Darkness into Light is the main fundraising and awareness event for Pieta House, a fantastic service which campaigns tirelessly for the prevention of self-harm or suicide.  They have a number of centres around the country and have helped over 17,000 people who were in difficulty, a truly remarkable feat.  You can reach Pieta House directly via the contact details here.

There are now 80 locations for you to choose from to take part in the Darkness into Light walk/run.  It’s suitable for age groups so I would encourage everyone both young and old to take part.  You can walk or run or casually stroll!! You will find a full list of locations here.  The event takes place on Saturday May 9th at 4.15 am and registration is €15- €20 and also allows you to pick up a t-shirt on the morning.

Do please feel free to share this post with anyone who you think may want to take part in this fantastic cause.  There is plenty of time to sign up and get a bit of training in.
